You will receive training in the methods of reducing industrial energy consumption and its associated costs. You will also gain a basic understanding of thermodynamics and the principles and function of equipment typically used in an industrial facility. The various types of energy sources will be studied, with an emphasis on how to reduce utility costs. You will gain experience in identifying and quantifying the typical energy management opportunities found in industrial plants (e.g., those concerning compressed air systems, motor systems, steam systems, and lighting). Finally, you will learn how to perform energy assessments of industrial and commercial buildings, including determining data needs, utilizing instrumentation, and analyzing and presenting results.
